Week 17: Movie and Bowling
Jeff and the boys all had a long weekend so we got tickets to the new movie theater in town. Jeff hadn’t seen Mary Poppins Returns yet and the day was snowy and very cold, so it seemed like the perfect plan. A friend recommended we get tickets ahead of time, reserve the seats we want and take the worry out of arrival time. The first thing Jeff and I both noticed walking in was the epic soundtracks playing in the parking lot to set the scene. It felt like going to the movies was something special, the beginnings of an event. We checked in, grabbed popcorn and coffees – there’s a full restaurant in the building so there are a lot of options, and found our seats. There’s an extra level of comfort in this theater with heated and reclining leather seats and a giant screen. It makes it feel worth it to leave the house and pay to see a movie. Mary Poppins was just as good if not better the second time, more laughs and more tears. After the movie we planned to go bowling, but it was booked for the rest of the day so we made a reservation for the next day. The next afternoon we showed up at our allotted time and really enjoyed Sammy’s first bowling experience. There are rainbow lanes and fun digital options including the ability anytime during the game to put up bumpers, Sam did it the whole time, Ben and I switched them on and off. The lanes are reserved by the hour so we got in almost two games. We haven’t tried the restaurant, maybe when we return. We definitely will be back.
